Comic-Con Prague 2027 will welcome the presenter of Believe It or Not
The Czech Republic’s biggest pop culture festival is returning to Prague’s O₂ Universum for the eighth time. Comic-Con Prague 2027 will take place from 16 to 18 April 2027 and will offer three days packed with films, TV series, sci-fi, fantasy, comics, games and meet-and-greets with guests from the Czech Republic and abroad. The organisers are now revealing the first stars of next year’s event and announcing several new features, including an expansion of the festival venue and a new limited-edition ‘HERO’ ticket category.
“The first confirmed international guests are Jonathan Frakes, whom audiences know not only from the world of Star Trek but also as the presenter of the programme Believe It or Not, and John Higgins, one of the most prominent figures in the world of comics. Both are among the guests fans have long been asking for, and we are delighted to be able to welcome them to Prague. We will be announcing further guests over the coming months,” says Pavel Renčín, marketing director at Active Radio.
Jonathan Frakes rose to fame for his role as Commander William T. Riker in the TV series *Star Trek: The Next Generation* and the subsequent films. However, he has also gradually become one of the most respected directors in the *Star Trek* franchise. He directed the film *Star Trek VIII: First Contact*, worked on *Star Trek IX: Insurrection*, and in recent years has directed episodes of the series *Star Trek: Discovery*, *Star Trek: Picard* and *Star Trek: Strange New Worlds*. Outside the fan community, he is also known for the programme *Believe It or Not*, which he presented for many years.
No proper Comic-Con is complete without comic book creators. John Higgins is a legendary British artist who was there at the inception of one of the most seminal comic book titles of all time, *Watchmen*. Czech readers may also recognise him from titles such as John Constantine, Hellblazer; The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning, or Judge Dredd: America.
The festival is expanding its venue and programme
In recent years, Comic-Con Prague has established itself as one of the largest events of its kind in Central Europe and expands its programme every year, introducing several new features for 2027. Visitors can look forward to popular programme strands dedicated to films and TV series, science fiction, fantasy, comics, anime, video games, dubbing and literature, including the popular Serial Killer and Future Line stages.
An integral part of the festival are also extensive interactive partner exhibitions, which will allow fans to step into the worlds of their favourite brands, try out a wide variety of activities and take part in competitions. The board game area will offer dozens of new games and tournaments, whilst the video game area will feature hundreds of gaming stations with both the latest and classic titles. There will also be cosplay competitions, exhibitions, workshops, fan group meet-ups and an extensive sales area with dozens of exhibitors offering comics, books, collectables, merchandise and original works by artists in the Artist Alley section. Comic-Con Prague is therefore not just an opportunity to meet your favourite actors and creators, but above all a unique weekend experience that brings together all areas of modern pop culture in one place.
“Next year, we’ll be expanding our use of the venue to include part of the O₂ Arena, which will allow us to offer visitors an even richer programme. The festival will take place across four floors of the O₂ Universe, and we’re preparing 32 hours of programming across more than twenty halls. The festival will also feature a spectacular Comic-Con party, which will take place on Friday evening and will be included in both Friday and multi-day tickets,” says Václav Pravda, the festival’s programme director.
Another new feature on sale will be the exclusive HERO ticket category. Only twenty of these will be available, and they will offer holders a range of premium benefits, which the organisers will unveil in the coming months. As usual, one-day tickets, three-day festival tickets and a limited edition of VIP tickets will also be on sale. The first wave of tickets remains the same as last year. Discounted prices are valid until 30 September.
The organisers will gradually announce further guests, programme updates and ticket details on the festival’s website and social media channels.
